MIDI CC Track Type
#1
A track type focused just on MIDI CC control, note control would be an FX. I'm using ES-9 as a giant matrix mixer and I'd really like to have 16 lanes (or more) of configurable CC's that I can turn up/down, or even have a little bit of LFO or envelope sends. Each channel could be label-able too that way you don't have to memorize all of the CC's.

The ES-9 can take 128 CC's of control change #'s for controlling level and pan, it's really awesome to use outside of a PC. Multiple pages of 16 lanes of CC control would be amazing.

Looks like the new NE mixer, Xer Mixa, also supports MIDI and could use something like this...

They are not much (as in zero) chances for something like this. That would be very much work, very memory intensive for a very special functionality. Also as you know, multiple lanes or even 16 lanes is not possible memorywise anyways.
You can sequence 3 + 16 CC events (via patches) per track and can modulate LFO's or envelopes on the CC already. And doing multiple LFO modulations for example via Midi will fill the Midi bandwidth very fast, so that is not a realistic situation if you also want to play notes and don't want to have any latency....but even with CC only.
If you do some smart routing then you can push more CC out of it using the upcoming mappings.

Ok, even if it was limited to 4 or 8 lanes? Also not every field would be set so it would be up to the user not to spam CC values. The labels certainly aren't a requirement either. Just something that focuses on CC's instead of notes. I don't really have much use for notes. I'm always just going over to FX and setting things there. Have a clearer view of what CC values are going on would be real nice. Maybe just lanes for the CTL1-CTL8?

I picked up an ES-9 recently and set it up with a Launch Control XL for midi control. I toyed with using Nerseq for some mixer controls, but in the end realized having immediate physical control over everything was a must.

I've got it setup for all 14 inputs (2 mono 6 stereo) with pan and two stereo sends per channel. I wish it could do mutes with CC, but otherwise the setup does everything I need.

It does. Maybe not for you right now...

I really hope you're being mum on some wonderful, yet to be announced, es-9 firmware! I won't pry further. Well... unless you know if this might include CC control of the DSP filters? Wink

P.S. love the work and direction on the new Nerdseq firmware! I'm checking here daily for word on the new expander.

To be honest I don’t have the es9 in my head at all and never even took a look at it. MidiCC and NRPN in and some more (than what is already there) out is part of the upcoming firmware.
