In that same manual it says:
"An imported Pattern will be imported into a new empty pattern. The new Pattern number will be shown after importing and can be used in
tracks with the same pattern type."
After importing it shows: "Imported to pattern XX" and this pattern can be used then. It doesn't import into the current pattern as this one is not an empty unused pattern.
